Solar panels are also used a lot in Engineering Projects especially related to renewable energy sources. Proteus doesn't have solar panels in its database that's why our team has designed this library. Using this Solar Panel Library for Proteus, now you can easily simulate solar panels in Proteus and can design your projects' simulations. I will also share some projects in which I will interface it with different Microcontrollers like Arduino, PIC Microcontroller or 8051 Microcontroller etc.

The PIC16F877A is programmedthrough MPLAB IDE and PICKET3. ThePROTEUS is the virtual simulation softwarefrom ISIS. PROTEUS (https://dybdoska.ru/hack/?patch=4317) is generally used totest the behavior of the selected hardware insimulation. A Virtual terminal is used to send and receive the data through the port. Data can be sent through the keyboard and received data is displayed on the virtual terminal.

I have posted many tutorials on my blog in which I have communicated over Serial port using different software. For example, you can check this Serial communication in MATLAB and can also have a look at Serial Communication in Visual Studio 2021. As serial communication is too common, so almost every microcontroller supports Serial communication. Arduino UNO has builtin single serial port at its pins 0 and 1, while Arduino Mega 2560 has built in four Serial ports in it. Similarly, PIC Microcontroller also supports Serial port and it is also available in 8051 Microcontroller.

These parameters should match with the external module that we are interfacing. So, it is better to study the data sheet of the interfacing module, for its default baud rate and other parameters and then set them in the software. Similarly, these properties should match with the Virtual terminal.

The above image shows the connection of a GSM Module and the USB to serial converter. The USB-Serial converter will be shown in the devices and printers as USB-Serial comm port. The actual Port number also will be shown.

In this chapter, let’s learn how to use the Virtual COM Ports in Proteus software. Virtual ports offer an option to connect the external hardware to the simulation software. The designer can interface any of the UART based modules through the virtual ports in Proteus software.

Now, we have to set the properties for the desired operation. Physical Port number and communication rate are the essential parameters to be set. Remaining parameters are generally common for most of the applications. Properties of the virtual terminal also should be set similar to the COM Port.

This is basically a serial port, with RS-232 Protocol. A level conversion IC like MAX 232 should be used to connect with the microcontrollers. But, if the serial port is not available on your computer, USB to serial converters are available. The output of this converter is 5 Volts or 3/3Volts TTL Logic. This output can be connected to microcontrollers directly. A Suitable device driver should be installed.

This virtual terminal is like the circuit behind the connector. So, the RX and TX pins of both are connected one-to-one directly.

Virtual Terminal in Proteus, as I explained above, is used to send or receive data to or from a serial port. Serial port is a 9 pin port which is mostly find on the computers and is used in Embedded System Projects for data communication.
